Exceptional reissue meticulously restored in 24-bit/96Hz, produced by Abbey Road Studios from the original tapes. The pages of this album were recorded over a period spanning no less than 16 years. The 2 versions of the aria "Non mi dir" by Donna Anna are the oldest testimonies, dating back to 1953: they were made to experiment with microphone placement, before Callas made her first commercial recording for EMI, with the opera Luciadi Lammermoor. As for the most recent recordings in this compilation, namely the arias by Verdi with Nicol Rescigno in 1964-1965 and 1969, the soprano never allowed their publication. When the album "Callas Rarities" was released in 1993, Gramophone magazine wrote: "Each piece, each phrase even has something to say. A recital whose listening is essential!"
