This album is the fruit of decades of affection, condensed into a single CD, offering a personal and carefully orchestrated journey through more than half a century of compositions of great fluidity. Born and died in Santa Fe, Argentina, hundreds of kilometers from Buenos Aires, Guastavino (1912-2000) lived through the decades of modernism and its tumultuous innovations, but his language, like that of most of his fellow composers, remained deeply rooted in the 19th century. However, while perfecting his talent for melody and the piano miniature to capture a universe within five minutes, his idiom is not marked by nostalgia or regret. On the contrary, Guastavino finds ever-ingenious ways to celebrate life in all its richness, and it is perhaps this positive vision that has allowed his music to shine far beyond his native country. He explores the sounds of his vast country—folk songs, streets, and forests, everything is there—without relying excessively on postcard naturalism, any more than Spanish masters such as de Falla and Granados. His repertoire ranges from the famous Bailecito (Little Dance, 1940) to El Sampedrino (The Man from San Pedro, 1992), from his last decade, through two cycles of ten pieces: Diez Cantinelas Argentinas (Ten Argentine Songs), composed in the 1950s, and Diez Cantos Populares (Ten Popular Songs), written in 1974—all works that reveal Guastavino's deep love for melody. Although his writing is never easy in terms of structure or harmony, these technical aspects are always placed at the service of a singing melodic line, always distinctive, catchy, and clearly influenced by popular song. Marcos Madrigal continues to make Havana the heart of his brilliant international career. In 2017, he founded Habana Clasica, a classical music festival in his hometown. He has recorded for the BBC, RAI, and Radio Suisse and has received several awards for his previous recordings, including five stars from Diapason in France.","brand":"Marcos Madrigal","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57475788144984,"sku":null,"price":20260128.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/marcos-madrigal_carlos-guastavino-oeuvres-pour-piano_2026_disco-outhere-distribution-france","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
