They lead the listener to discover an almost literary narrative. Thus, these often dazzling, paroxysmal pages seem to be in continuity with the thoughts of Chopin and, even more so, Liszt. The finesse of Marc-André Hamelin's touch, the taste and pleasure he takes in making dissonances resonate, and in exploiting considerable dynamics reach their peak in the Sixth Sonata, the most brilliant of the scores. For a few years, it bore the title \"The Decline of the West\"... Its expressionist nature, its destructive momentum are carried by extraordinary fervor and virtuosity.
