The new Manic Street Preachers album, The Ultra Vivid Lament from Columbia Sony. The Welsh rock trio recorded their 14th studio album in Wales at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth and Door To The River Studio in Newport with long-time collaborator Dave Eringa. An original album with a broader soundscape than previous ones. Featuring more or less political tracks, this new opus attempts to reflect the times we live in; nevertheless, the trio advocates positivity and encourages us to turn towards the light despite gloomy situations. Musically, "The Ultra Vivid Lament" draws inspiration from a 1970s record collection (ABBA, post-Eno Roxy, the Bunnymen, Fables-era REM, Lodger) but the final result can only be the unique union of James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire, and Sean Moore, collectively one of the UK's most brilliant rock'n'roll bands for over three decades.
