Gift from the Trees

Mammal Hands announces a captivating new album "Gift from the Trees". This fifth album offers a new perspective on the singular music of this unique trio. The first to be recorded in a residential studio, the group took advantage of the opportunity to go late into the night in search of a deeper and more organic experience, closer both to their writing process and to their trance-like live performances. Although some of the music was pre-composed and even played live, the group also enjoyed the opportunity to improvise ideas in the studio. There was also a conscious decision to move away from the sound and atmosphere of the recording studio, with the group choosing to design the record with their live engineer Benjamin Capp before mixing the sessions with Greg Freeman in Berlin. The idea was to try to capture more of the energy of the group's captivating concerts. The Welsh environment outside the studio doors is reflected in the music presented on Gift from the Trees, with two recording sessions (one in winter and one in spring) bringing different moods: one dark and wintry, the other more hopeful and bright — an energy that permeates tracks such as Kernel and Dimu.
