Ska Tone EP/12” Signed & Embossed Art Print

Description

Mal-One is totally immersed in the punk-rock universe but Ska Tone is a testament to his influence from the Two Tone bands of the late 1970s. The album features instrumental tracks, poetry and spoken word, plus dub-inspired remixes, paying deep homage to this legendary movement. The "2 Tone" sound was a big period on the back of punk and included influences drawn from Jamaican Ska. Mal-One had previously worked on a couple of 2 Tone collages and set them aside for a future project. He thought it would be fun to record a few tracks related to these images and sounds. The first track he recorded was an instrumental in the style of Harry J All Stars' "Liquidator," which he called "Rude Boy Shuffle." Originally intended to be released as a standalone track on some reggae label. He already had a poem he called "Two Tone Story," so he put it over the "Ska Train Is Back In Town" rhythm he'd put together for another song of the same name. Finally, "Rude Boys & Rude Girls Listen!" came together. Add to that a couple of dub mixes, and we have a 6-track 12". Mal-One thought the artwork worked best on a 12" format. Includes a signed and embossed 12" art print.
