C'est pas Blanche-Neige ni Cendrillon

Description

Madame Robert could just as easily be the nickname of a buxom madam of a small Pigalle brothel from the 1950s as that of your unfriendly neighbor on the fifth floor who lives with her three angora cats, or even that of your slightly tricky math teacher from middle school. Madame Robert is also a song by Nino Ferrer (well, well). Madame Robert is now and above all the name of a generous Rhythm & Blues band, straight out of the jukebox of that neighborhood bar where you used to play foosball after class. You'd leave smelling of tobacco, but you'd had a good laugh all the same. Madame Robert is not a gathering of heavies (led by Reuno from Lofofora, Stef ex-bassist from Parabellum) coming to shake you down for your cash. Instead, it's a cast of top dogs, here to make you snap your fingers, stomp your feet, and soak your shirt. Old school. Even if it means straightening out the sideburns of the squares, with them there's no nervous breakdown, just sleepless nights that make you forget that infernal white sauce called life. Six years after the release of its first album, Madame Robert returns to hit harder, first for its own pleasure but also to remind the squares that Rhythm & Blues and self-mockery are not dead. The old-school recording with no gimmicks — everything was done live, giving the ten tracks on this new album that characteristic warmth and groove — took place at Studio E, in Ecotay l'Olme, in the Loire with Bruno Preynat (Mickey3D, Kent, Parabellum). On the cover, Divina Boom, the band's muse, is back in action and this time dons the apron of a bar owner we'd love to see much more often! Madame Robert is Madame Robert, She's not Snow White nor Cinderella!
