Ain't That Right - An Unconventional Tribute To Sun Records

Description

According to the biographies published, Mack Stevens was born in the mid-fifties in Corsicana, southeast of Dallas, Texas. His musical love goes to original rock, as it was produced at the time, especially in Memphis, by Sam Phillips for his Sun label in his own studio. It took some time before Mack Stevens released his first work. In 1993, his first album was released on the German label Eagle Records. This was followed by singles, LPs, CDs, and even shellac records for labels in France, Japan, and the United States, among others, where he was able to enthuse the legendary rockabilly producer Ronny Weiser and release four CDs in three years on his Rollin' Rock label. He has published on Scana, Part, On The Hill, Hog Maw, and on his own label Freedonia. Mack Stevens has now recorded more than 500 songs, be it rock, hillbilly country, or trash blues. He passionately collects original rockabilly records and had his own radio show 'In The Groove'. Mack is and remains a purist. A flabby sound here and there or a playing error doesn't bother him. But he doesn't like guitarists to think that the rockabilly school started with the Stray Cats. Since 1998, Mack has been married to an Argentine. Since then, he has been commuting between the USA and South America, where these brutally high-quality recordings were made for his homage to the Sun Sound of the 1950s. One might now expect a new soft and insignificant album of Sun's greatest hits - but not when Mack is in charge! He knows the Sun Records catalog well and has chosen some of the wildest and most obscure tracks for his album and his hard, often brutal and extremely emotional reinterpretation of Sun's history. It's wild, it has punch, it spreads the charm of the originals with Mack Stevens' typical approach. Wild, authentic - pure dramatic rock with trash blues accents!
