The Piano Sonatas Coffret

From March 2004 to May 2006, András Schiff performed the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven at the Tonhalle in Zurich. The concerts were recorded by ECM for the New Series collection and resulted in 11 albums, gathered in the box set The Piano Sonatas.
One of the discs features the encores from the concerts - works by Schubert, Mozart, Haydn, and Bach - and the whole set is accompanied by a booklet of notes offering commentary on the sonatas as well as an enlightening reflection by András Schiff on his choice of encores.
