The Australian underground quartet Lower Plenty offer this album 'Hard Rubbish', voted album of the year 2012 by the Australian indie bible Mess + Noise. Daniel Twomey, Jensen Tjhung, Sarah Heyward and Al Montfort are part of their continent's rock elite, having played in bands such as Deaf Wish, Total Control, UV Race and The Focus. A less intense sound than on these other projects, Lower Plenty create a magnificent melancholy, a raw and delicate, country-suburban music, recorded in single takes on 8-track tapes. Indie rock with folk inspiration, featuring some experimentation and fantastically memorable melodies.
