Before becoming primarily known for his activities as a producer and label owner, LOU RAGLAND had done it all: roadie for the O'Jays, chauffeur for Don King, window washer, interior painter, backing vocalist for Kim Tolliver, member of the groups Lou Ragland & The Bandmasters, Billy Ward & the Dominoes, Ink Spots (.), all while developing his guitar playing to become one of the most skilled guitorgan technicians. Between 1967 and 1977, LOU RAGLAND, stuck between the nitrated waters of Lake Erie and the flames of the Cuyahoga River, produced the most worthy and respected soul work in Ohio. Supported by two reissues of the albums Hot Chocolate and Understand Each Other, I Travel Alone, a new Numero Group edition, brings together singles, collaborations, and even a 1973 live album.
