Fils de Zamal

Description

"Fils de Zamal" holds a special place in LO'JO's career. Released in 1993, it is the first album to showcase all the facets that would become the band's hallmark! It is now available for the first time on vinyl! This atypical band, formed in 1982, equally at home on stages worldwide and on record, develops a borderless music that blends universal poetry with sounds from the Orient, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. At Lo'Jo, there's no leader, but a mentor: Denis Péan. A free and inspired poet, he acts as a guide for the two women and three men in this Angers-based group. They offer sonic poetry and rhythmic imagery that captivate audiences without betraying traditions. From their adventures around the globe, the members of Lo'Jo have brought back memories as well as friends: the Beninese Gangbé Brass Band, the Touareg group Tinariwen, the Native Americans of Black Fire; they are also behind the Festival au Désert, which, as its name suggests, takes place in the Malian desert.
