LNZNDRF

Description

LNZNDRF Behind the enigmatic seven consonants LNZNDRF (pronounced LANZENDORF) are actually musicians well-known to the general public: brothers Bryan & Scott Devendorf, drummer and bassist respectively for the American band The National, and brass player Ben Lanz, who primarily performs with Beirut and has collaborated for several years with The National and Sufjan Stevens, among others. Formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 2011, LNZNDRF combines psyche, prog, and kraut rock in a surprising eponymous debut album recorded in a Cincinnati church over two and a half days. Following the style of their largely improvised live performances, the album's eight tracks are derived from long jams lasting over thirty minutes. The touch of the three gentlemen can be found: Bryan's relentless and imaginative drumming, his brother Scott's thrumming bass, and Ben's layered and distorted guitars. A sonic surge tinged with electronic sounds that doesn't fail to draw parallels with illustrious names such as Can, Neu!, and Suicide.
