Description

Formed in New York in 1984, the band Living Colour is part of the fusion movement alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, and Faith No More by blending rock, metal, funk, jazz, and rap. Their first album Vivid in 1988, co-produced by Mick Jagger, propels them to the top of the charts. Nearly 30 years later, Living Colour delivers Shade, a sixth album that is remarkably effective!
It is a live metal-tinged cover of Robert Johnson's "Preachin' Blues" that inspired the direction of this new album: the blues! Produced by Andre Betts, this new album is a work of craftsmanship, of perfectionism. Shade is a sonic journey that oscillates between the fury of a gangster boogie ("Blak Out") and the intensity close to the band's greatest hits ("Program"). We will particularly appreciate Corey Glover's vocal performance on the afro-punk track "Glass Teeth," the collaboration with George Clinton on the acid-funk ballad "Two Sides," and the cover of "Who Shot Ya?" by The Notorious B.I.G.
