The New York duo Lipphead, formed by Tony Simon (aka Blockhead) and Eliot Lipp, returns with a decidedly fun third album, following their first two records released on Detroit's Young Heavy Soul label. Their music oscillates between Blockhead's groovy, sampled hip-hop and Eliot Lipp's driving electronic funk, offering a unique and joyful blend. A major figure in instrumental hip-hop, Blockhead has released fifteen albums in fifteen years, several of which were acclaimed on Ninja Tune, and has produced for Aesop Rock, among others. He continues his sonic explorations today on labels like Future Archive Recordings and Backwoodz Studios. Eliot Lipp, a Brooklyn-based electronic musician, was discovered by Scott Herren (Prefuse 73, Warp Records) before releasing his first album in 2004 on Eastern Developments, a label affiliated with Warp. Together, the two producers fuse their universes into a free and playful aesthetic.
