Adored in his country, less known in Europe, Dorival Caymmi (1914-2008) is one of the most important singers and composers in the history of Brazilian popular music. Major figures such as João Gilberto, Gilberto Gil, or Caetano Veloso have praised him and claimed his influence loudly. The elegant lyricist Jacques Duvall (who has written a lot for Alain Chamfort, Lio, Jane Birkin, or Dani) conceived this album project in which his eternal accomplice Lio performs twelve songs by Dorival Caymmi. The works of the Bahian master are subtly revisited, as if moved to the northern hemisphere, thanks to the inventive arrangements of French musician Christophe Vandeputte and the moving interpretation by Lio (born Vanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos), whose first album sung in Portuguese this is. Both fans of the illustrator Loustal, Lio and Jacques Duvall asked him to illustrate the project with an original drawing, which adorns the cover. "A very beautiful intimate, nostalgic, and delicate album...." France Inter
