On was waiting for them around the corner but it’s in the air that we had to look. With 14 million copies sold of the blockbuster "Hybrid Theory," the nu-metal gang confirms its status as a star in the darkened sky of global rock with an album that does not disappoint. Indeed, fans of the first album can only love this second effort as one recognizes the "touch" of the feline Linkin Park; alternating calm melodic verses and aggressive choruses, samples and hip-hop vocals in certain passages. The first single from "Meteora," Somewhere I Belong, reflects well the first part of the album, which is rather mid-tempo and furious. Then, the music of the Californians becomes more varied with faster tempos (Faint) and more aquatic atmospheres where the DJ shows all his mastery. The band even allows the use of strings on the aptly named Breaking the Habit. Nobody’s Listening is a resolutely hip-hop song and constitutes the surprise of the album. "Meteora" proves that Linkin Park is not destined to be just a comet of terrestrial rock.
