Light Asylum's debut album was released in 2012, a time when streaming had not yet reached critical mass and vinyl had not yet made a strong comeback. It's a top-notch synth-pop record, dressed in black, spiritually punishing, perfectly and meticulously programmed, and elevated by the superhuman voice of singer Shannon Funchess. The A-side, featuring tracks like "IPC," is more intense and faster than the B-side, which opens with a slow, serene, and chilling piece, "Angel Tongue," and concludes with the nearly ecstatic "A Certain Person." This reissue allows DFA to bring back the album that had never been repressed. For fans of Eurythmics, Boy Harsher, Yazoo, and Ministry during the With Sympathy era.
