A Band of Gypsies Suites
Description
The group was born from the initiative of two violinist brothers, Olivier and Éric Slabiak, whose uncle Léo Slab was already playing gypsy violin with the famous Hot Club de France of Django Reinhardt. The group had six members at its birth in April 1992, for five different instruments: two violins (Olivier and Eric Slabiak), a double bass (Frank Anastasio), an accordion (Ionica Minune), a guitar (Pascal Rondeau) and a cello (François Perchat), to which were added a drums (Aidje Tafial) and a cymbalum (Marian Miu).
The group also has an international career in Europe, Asia, and the United States, notably thanks to the support of John Schaefer who regularly programs the albums of the group for years in his show New Sounds on WNYC.
Remastered reissue of the first 2 albums released in 1992 and 1994.
“It is to an exhilarating journey to the heart of gypsy and Yiddish music, full of colors, vivid and multiple emotions that the Yeux Noirs invite us. This remarkable ensemble of six musicians from different origins, generations, and cultures dialogues, invents, ignites, improvises in a single surge, with a surprisingly communicative verve and inspiration” Philippe Cassard
A sticker will be affixed to the front indicating “The Essentials: 2 for 1”
