These little tunes that people hummed in each other's ears by the basin of Apollo or among the groves of the Petit Trianon at the Château de Versailles were certainly light in character but strong in authenticity. Seventeenth-century France was home to a host of artists whose talents served the nobility and the bourgeoisie, who were very fond of these airs. The Kapsber'girls, an ensemble of four singers and instrumentalists, directed by lutenist Albane Imbs, released a multi-award-winning debut album ('Chefai tš?', released on Muso). They join Alpha for several recordings, starting with 'Vous avez dit Brunettes?'....
