Since the release of the aptly named "Man Funk" single from Guts' "Hip Hop after All" album, the name of singer and trumpeter Leron Thomas has been highlighted. While he may have crossed paths with Bilal, Lauryn Hill, Roy Hargrove, Zara McFarlane, or Meshell Ndegeocello, leading to fruitful collaborations in the studio and on stage, Leron Thomas has always preferred the underground path. Steering his own ship, he successfully completed his nine previous projects. Today, Leron Thomas joins the Heavenly Sweetness family for an EP, a prelude to an album. Jazz, funk, electropop, rock – a true musical Swiss Army knife, Leron is comfortable in each of these styles, never hesitating to intertwine them randomly or even brutally, sometimes within a single track. Whether front and center on the mic or remaining a discreet voice hidden in the recesses of the groove, Leron Thomas sings as much as he croons, caresses as much as he stirs, and, above all, surprises as much as he disorients. Always with a predilection for embarking the listener on a sonic adventure rather than letting them comfortably stroll along a well-worn path... On this new album, Leron Thomas demonstrates his full talent as a composer but, above all, his strong originality and his ability to blast through the rigid boundaries of jazz to explore soul, funk, and punk rock alike.
