Seven months after the death of his father, Adam Cohen retreated to a garage, at the bottom of Leonard's house, to stay close to his father and his ongoing work. From their previous collaboration on "You Want It Darker," there remained bare musical sketches, sometimes barely worked on. Before his death, Leonard had asked his son to complete his works. This remarkable new album was created in many places and with many collaborations. Javier Mas, the great Spanish musician who accompanied Leonard on stage during the last eight years of touring, flew from Barcelona to Los Angeles to capture the artist's spirit on Leonard's guitar. Adam invited his friends and colleagues to lend their ears and talents. Damien Rice and Leslie Feist sang. Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire contributed his bass line. Bryce Dessner of The National played guitar, composer Dustin O'Halloran played piano. The Berlin choir Cantus Domus sang alongside the s t a r g a z e orchestra choir. Added to this impressive list of collaborations are Daniel Lanois, Shaar Hashomayim, Patrick Watson, Beck and his guitar, Jennifer Warnes.
