Goin' Local

Description

Hard to believe that a legend like Lenny Kaye never released a solo album. Yet, after composing and playing guitar with his partner Patti Smith for over half a century, contributing to the rise of many musical eras through his Nuggets compilations, and producing award-winning albums for Suzanne Vega, Kristen Hersh, Soul Asylum, and many others, it's safe to say he's been busy putting his personal touch on other artists' records and spreading the good word of garage rock and psychedelic history. At 79, Lenny is finally ready to release his first solo album, Goin' Local. It also features some notable guests. Patti Smith is the lead singer on "Solstice." "Let's Make a Memory" features jazz pianist Matthew Shipp. "Pennsylvania Girls" welcomes Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth on violin. David Mansfield arranged strings for the final track, "Yes I Will." Lenny handles the rest on guitar and pedal steel, accompanied by a few local musicians. The first pressing of Goin' Local is pressed on Blue Bone Splash colored vinyl and is limited to 1,000 copies worldwide!
