He was one of the main representatives of the Empfindsamer Stil (Sensitive Style) and served Frederick the Great as a harpsichordist and chamber musician for over 30 years before being appointed municipal music director in Hamburg. Contemporaries considered Bach a "genius of originality": his tendency to find unusual solutions and surprising turns of phrase made his music a true rollercoaster of moods and effects. He combines intelligence with passion, popular writing techniques with sovereign mastery of form. Leila Schayegh and Jorg Halubek, two leading performers, here set out to discover the works of C. P. E. Bach for violin and keyboard instruments. The Swiss Baroque violinist stands out for her full, singing tone with great and powerful radiance, and her technique seems limitless. She has been a professor at the famous Schola Cantorum Basiliensis since 2010. Jorg Halubek proves to be a highly sensitive accompanist and an equal musical partner on the harpsichord and tangent piano. Unusually, they have recorded two sonatas by Johannes Brahms in the realization of the basso continuo!
