Meadow Lane Park/White Vinyl/MP3 Download

Description

Meadow Lane Park is the debut album from French quintet Le Superhomard. From its cover art, the album presents itself as a bucolic and dreamy record. Using synthesizers, muffled and psychedelic bass, strings, and mellow guitars, Le Superhomard creates an irresistible and very unique atmosphere. We had already discovered the elegant electro-pop of “Springtime” on the previous single. “Door After Door” gives us an idea of what the famous “Strawberry Fields” would be like if rediscovered today in a Syd Barrett-esque daydream. “Paper Girl” could be an ABBA hit arranged by Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane. “Karaoking” follows in a more classic style, with an omnipresent piano and string arrangements that remind us of Mehdi Zannad's masterful work, complemented by Julie Big's lovely voice. The instrumental “Snowflakes” takes us back once again to Trish Keenan's band and the wonderful United States Of America, into interstellar and colorful landscapes. The very catchy “Meadow Lane Park” was also featured on the previous single, with its soaring strings and mellotrons. “Elephant In The Room” shows how much Burt Bacharach there is in these songs. “SDVB” and “Black Diamond” bring synthesizers and arpeggiators back to the forefront, drawing us closer to the 80s without betraying the essence of what we've heard so far. “Refuel” delves into krautrock, jazz, space, or imaginary underwater journeys. “Back To Meadow Lane” concludes this album with its cinematic strings enhanced by synthetic harmonies.
