Who has never heard one of the concertos for mandolin by Antonio Vivaldi? As famous as the Four Seasons, Ravel's Boléro, or the Concerto de Aranjuez. How could we not pay tribute to the one who was called "the red priest" and who composed more than 200 concertos for instruments as different as the violin, the oboe, the marine trumpet, the lute, or the mandolin.
Almost as famous as Johann Adolf Hasse, known as "il Sassone," the virtuoso Emanuele Barbella was a prolific composer for mandolin, who was said to be a bit crazy. These sonatas, duos, concertos testify to a great originality where humor plays a large part.
