The program was recorded at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, in the magnificent Salle Liebermann, last spring. Since 2012 and the release of his first Chopin recital with Sony Classical, Lang Lang has not returned to this composer who is not only essential to music but to the legend of the piano forever. The program of this new recording is an event in itself: The 4 Scherzos by Chopin are a masterpiece of his work and can only be performed by the greatest artists. They require, first of all, incredible virtuosity and a pianistic weight that only artists of his caliber possess, but it is then in the quality of the artist's expressive engagement that everything is at stake. The program is not lacking in originality with the splendid and rare "Seasons" by Tchaikovsky, of which only "Autumn Song" seems to be known to all. It is a magnificent collection of 12 pieces, each dedicated to a month of the year, that the author composed between 1875 and 1876. It reveals itself to be both romantic and dreamy but also lively and alert when the Russian folk songs traverse the score.
