Rooting For Love

Description

Each of Laetitia Sadier’s albums, whether under her own name, as Stereolab, or Monade, is a dispatch from her journey through time, space, and the collective. She grapples with difficult subjects, self-determination, and emancipation from entrenched powers, conscious or unconscious. On Rooting For Love, the report is inflamed by the heat of a turbulent world and the collapse of institutions. The relentless presence of Laetitia Sadier, interacting with a vocal assembly of men and women called The Choir, directs the entire album from within. The regular reappearance of The Choir throughout Rooting For Love is a reminder that this music belongs to a people at critical mass, as well as an evolution that continues to deepen the rich harmonic fields in which Laetitia plays. Double bassist Xavi Munoz’s melodic funk is classy, counterbalancing the no-wave rock vibes. The songs are mixed by Hannes Plattenier and Emma Mario. In addition to her collaboration with Modern Cosmology last year, as well as her ongoing tours with a reformed Stereolab, Rooting For Love sees Laetitia return, to our great delight.
