Sade Sanchez, the band's singer and guitarist, invites listeners to think and act for themselves, even if it means getting a little burnt from time to time. This opening track becomes a call to action, an anthem against apathy. \"Motorcycle Boy\" is a fiery love song, inspired by cinematic bad boys like Mickey Rourke, Marlon Brando, and Steve McQueen.L.A. Witch ventures into new musical territories with \"Dark Horse\", which reveals a blend of dusty folk, psychedelic breaks, and organ lines forged in the flames of hell. And from there, the band becomes even more adventurous. 'Play With Fire' is a daring journey that retains L.A. Witch's siren song mystique, nostalgic spirit, and a certain contemporary freshness. Listening to the record feels like traversing the history of American rock, from its cross-pollination with blues and country, through the psychedelia of the 60s and the punk wave of the 70s, to its landing on the New York art rock of the 80s.
