Description

La Colonie de Vacances is a unique 'quadriphonic sound system' that places the audience at the center of 4 stages for a singular sonic experience. Born from the reunion of four French noise rock bands (Electric Electric, Marvin, Papier Tigre, Pneu), La Colonie de Vacances has captivated audiences at numerous popular and demanding festivals during its ten years of existence. For its return in 2022, with its carefully crafted first album in hand, the collective created a new system that stands out from previous ones by discarding the original cells. The new distribution of forces plays with contrasts and formats, from super well-oiled mechanisms to neurasthenic sounds, the band further expands the realm of possibilities, without forgetting the polyrhythms, trances, and ultra-dynamic orchestrations that are an integral part of the vocabulary of this protean and enveloping orchestra. It is in this spirit that the 9 songs composing 'ECHT' were conceived and recorded by a troupe whose delimitations gradually evaporated. Playing with conventions, the musicians focus on John Cage's idea that 'everyone is in the best place' by ensuring that the compositions offer several possible levels of listening: the music of each musician on stage, each of the subsets, and the powerful quadriphonic blend of the ensemble. While the compositions are nourished by the multiple influences of the 12 artists, particularly in electronic and contemporary music, rock energy undeniably remains the common foundation of the band.
