L7

L7

Description

L7's first album is a real punch, both punk and hard rock. Emerging in the late 1980s in Los Angeles, on the Silver Lake/Echo Park scene, L7 had many influences, from Motörhead to the Ramones, and including the feminist band Frightwig. They brought fun and feminism to the Sunset Strip, sweeping away machismo with their Flying V guitars. Between heavy metal, punk, and grunge, the girls of L7 cleaned up the rock of that era. Their first album was released in 1988, and is a mix of grunge, heavy metal, and punk, with powerful guitars and drums, showing that girls can also make violent, head-spinning rock. This first album, reissued for the band's 30th anniversary, was produced by Brett Gurewitz.
