Description

«Notturno» is the first album of the Escadron Volant de la Reine. It is the result of several years of work on Italian music from the late 17th century, and everything, from the research of the scores to the definition of the musical gesture, is the fruit of teamwork. The Escadron Volant de la Reine chose to record this repertoire (Caresana, Scarlatti, Veneziano) for its beauty, its rarity, and because it exactly matched the ensemble's lineup. These are pieces for four instrumental parts (two violins, one viola, the continuo) and one vocal part. The counterpoint thus formed gives a voice to each, with the instruments dialoguing equally with the voice. The Escadron Volant de la Reine refers to the ladies-in-waiting recruited by Catherine de Medici.
