"Dark Waters," the third chapter in Konquest's discography, feels less like a peaceful album and more like a descent into a dark passage with no apparent bottom. It revolves around a silent and dangerous desire: the urge to turn off the light, to unplug the mind before the noise becomes unbearable. The protagonist longs for silence, for the stillness that comes when thoughts finally give way. Yet, paradoxically, he never stops traveling. His body may remain still, but his mind races through centuries, myths, imagined past lives where fire is newly discovered and the world is simple enough to understand. He dreams of Kubla Khan's Palace of Joy, of ancient warmth and primitive clarity, of a time before overanalysis became a cage. He measures himself against missed opportunities, against the version of his life he thought he would have reached by now. Beneath it all, a dull fear: if he cannot rise above these dark waters of the mind, he risks drowning in them. The weight pressing down is immense. The brain races. Fantasy becomes both refuge and battlefield. "Dark Waters" is the sound of a mind that never shuts off: restless, brilliant, exhausted.
