Knobilive in Cully Jazz (Vinyle LP) / Knobil

Description

Bassist, singer, and composer, KNOBIL (Louise Knobil, 26) invites you to dive into her world where Jazz, Punk, glitter, and French chanson fuse with a sparkling and daring energy. Inspired by iconic figures such as Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus, and Boris Vian, this rising star of Swiss Jazz transforms her personal diary into a unique musical adventure. Polyamory, chronic insomnia, and pesto recipes coexist in compositions that are both personal and universal. Her impertinent melodies, blending double bass and voice, gain intensity thanks to the talent of her loyal 'knodisciples': Chloé Marsigny on bass clarinet and effects, and Vincent Andreae on drums. In 2024, KNOBIL is the winner of the Crest Jazz springboard and the Leenaards cultural grant. After more than 100 concerts across Europe and the release of two EPs, "Or not Knobil" (2023) and "Knobisous" (2024), KNOBIL is taking on the challenge of recording a live album with her trio in front of 1600 people under the big top of the prestigious Cully Jazz Festival on April 4, 2025. With this audacious approach, the artist advocates for a vision of Jazz that is dear to her: authentic and unfiltered risk-taking. KNOBIL wants to share her raw and sincere energy, which she calls her "musical diary": polyamory, pesto recipes, and queer coming-outs coexist against a backdrop of up-tempo swing, modern jazz, and punk double bass. "The Cully Jazz Festival saw me grow and offered me the stage multiple times when KNOBIL barely existed. It's a dream come true to be able to play under this iconic big top and to capture a unique moment surrounded by my knodisciples, my family, my friends, and all the people who support KNOBIL."
