The guru King Tuff is back with a cosmic album! King Tuff produced the record himself and collaborated with Shawn Everett (War on Drugs, Alabama Shakes) on the mixing. No less catchy than his previous records, the new tracks abandon rock-and-roll orgy narratives to embrace expansive arrangements, diverse instrumentation, and lyrics that aim to reconnect us with that childlike, creative part of ourselves, not yet eaten away by cynicism. The album features Ty Segall on drums, Jenny Lewis and Greta Morgan on vocals, and Mikal Cronin on saxophone.
Thomas considers the experience of this recording to be a kind of psychic reset process. "I let the songs lead me where they wanted to go, instead of trying to push them into a certain zone. King Tuff was always supposed to be just me when I started, as a teenager, that's all I wanted. King Tuff was never meant to be just one thing, it was meant to be everything."
