From Scotland With Love

Description

Comprising eleven stunning songs, "From Scotland With Love" was written by King Creosote and produced by guitarist David McAulay with the help of Paul Savage, at Chem 19 Studios in Glasgow. King Creosote surrounded himself with his band - Derek O'Neil (keyboards), Andy Robinson (drums), Pete Mcleod (bass) and Kevin Brolly (clarinet) - as well as a string orchestra (whose arrangements are signed by Pete Harvey) and a choir providing backing vocals. "From Scotland With Love" was created in collaboration with director Virginia Heath and producer Grant Keir, to illustrate the poetic documentary of the same name, which will be released this summer on the occasion of the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Composed of archival footage, but containing neither narration nor interviews, the film evokes themes of love and grief, war and resistance, emigration, work and play, all animated as much by the music as by the images. For the first time in his career, King Creosote steps into the shoes of other characters, embodying for example women who are followed in the documentary. The result is a cinematic album, certainly the most accomplished work of King Creosote to date.
