MEREDITH

Description

Behind the King Child project (Alternative Pop) are Jean Prat, composer and multi-instrumentalist, and Quentin Hoogaert's powerful voice. Their debut album, Meredith, is a spaceship, navigating between atmospheres that are at times dark and stripped-back (Butcher), and at others bright and energetic (Bending times). An unexpected piece by Claude Debussy (1st Arabesque) acts as a breath around which the album is built. The bold, rich, and complex songwriting, mirroring the album art designed by Grégoire Dalle, takes the listener on an interstellar Pop journey. The lyrics capture an ambient melancholy and strive to convey a fragmented and sometimes naive vision of love, loss, and reunion... An album that transports from start to finish thanks to vocal melodies supported by the pads and strange sonorities – worthy of a John Carpenter film – of the various synths and the therevox. Impeccable rhythm. Everything seems perfectly under control. The blend of these sounds, bordering on the strange, and Quentin Hoogaert's husky yet caressing voice cannot leave anyone indifferent.
