Misa Flamenca

Description

The Soloists of Byzantine Music and guitarist Kiko Ruiz take us on a journey through the sacred songs of the Mediterranean via a unique musical and spiritual experience. This Misa Flamenca sung according to the ancient Andalusian rite, in Latin and Spanish, naturally enters into dialogue with Flamenco singing. It is the sacred soul of Andalusia that internalizes to communicate in a deeper and more vibrant way.
This Misa Flamenca is a tribute to Pedro Soler, with whom Frédéric Tavernier-Vellas discovered this still-living tradition that requires a flamenco artist to create, at least once in their life, a Misa flamenca. The connection of these songs from the flamenco repertoire with the Spanish tradition of church singing (Rit Hispanique) then became evident. The meeting of Kiko Ruiz, guitarist and composer, and the friendship of Matéo Cortès, Flamenco singer, enabled this new creation presented at the International Festival of Sylvanès last August and recorded in the abbey of Sylvanès in October of the same year 2019.
