Kafe Groppi
The Groppi café is a very old place located in the city of Cairo. It is a place of cosmopolitan meetings, a place of the ephemeral and the trivial, of lightness and appearance where, as Tristan Klingsor writes, the literati quarrel over poetry and beauty.
I drew inspiration from this childhood memory to conceive these compositions and link them together. Sometimes nostalgic for a promising era, but not always, they are uncertain portraits, moments that I hope are carefree and profound, light, nonchalant, and serious.
