Kevin Neil Hearn (born July 2, 1969) is a Canadian musician who is a member of Barenaked Ladies and his own band, Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle. He primarily plays keyboards and guitars. He is also a member of Rheostatics. He has recorded a multitude of albums since his debut in 1989 at just 20 years old. Over 35 albums, including 15 with his main band "Barenaked Ladies" (with whom he has been performing since 1996 and has won numerous international awards). But also 5 other bands! Hugh Marsh is a composer and violinist born on June 5, 1955, in Montreal, Canada. In terms of film music, he has primarily worked with the Media Ventures studio, including Harry Gregson-Williams and Hans Zimmer. He has contributed to the scores of the following films: Déjà Vu (Tony Scott), Kingdom Of Heaven (Ridley Scott), The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek 2, Sinbad, Welcome to the Jungle, Spy Game, Armageddon,... Performing covers in concert led Kevin Hearn to realize how finely crafted some of the most beloved hits of the 80s are. In early 2020, Kevin and Hugh Marsh began to experiment with these old favorites and started recording them. Through the pandemic bubble, they continued to explore 80s tunes and eventually had a full album, recorded and engineered by Kenny Luong. Stripped down and played acoustically, the songs shine both as great songs and as nostalgic reminders of a time when we all had less holding us back. Keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies, Lou Reed, Rheostatics) and violinist Hugh Marsh (Bruce Cockburn, Doug Riley, Rheostatics) reinvent a diverse collection of decade classics and deep cuts in an atmospheric and ethereal soundscape. Selections from Tom Petty, Kraftwerk, Kate Bush, Joy Division, Billy Idol, Bob Marley, and more benefit from a hushed and appropriately dreamlike treatment that keeps their respective hooks and charms intact. Some even gain an extra dimension thanks to a range of special guests, including esteemed opera singer Michael Colvin, new wave icon Carole Pope, Hearn's Lou Reed bandmate Fernando Saunders, and Sun Ra Arkestra trumpeter Michael Ray.
