For his first solo album on Delos, tenor Charles Castronovo treats us to a Verdi program that aims to highlight the composer's captivating use of theatrical techniques. Noble Renegades includes complete scenes from operas such as Don Carlos, Luisa Miller, and I Lombardi, in which one perceives the emotional arc experienced by the protagonists throughout the narrative, thus perfectly illustrating Verdi's vision of "lyric theatre." This album also attests to the composer's great influence on Charles, who has performed his works worldwide. The "singers' dream partner," Constantine Orbelian, and his orchestra, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, join him, as do the exceptional singers Kristin Sampson, Tomas Pavilionis, and Tadas Girininkas, and the Kaunas State Choir.
