Formed in 1991 by Jonas Renkse & Anders Nyström, having evolved from pioneers of the nascent black/death/doom movement to leading figures in progressive metallic rock, the Swedish specialists in melancholy return with their stellar new opus, City Burials - the band's eleventh studio album, their first since the release of the haunting The Fall of Hearts in 2016. A new direction guides the band on this new journey; City Burials is a new progressive rock jewel in their discography, the fruit of an effort to rejuvenate their sound and an important moment for the band's legacy. It's an album that sees the band re-embrace some of its heavy metal roots, through several moments of exuberant old-school, skillfully woven into the kaleidoscopic fabric of these new songs. The limited CD version contains the bonus tracks "Closing of the Sky" and "Fighters," and the LP version contains "Closing of the Sky." The band will promote the release at festivals and on tours planned for 2020 and 2021.
