The epic album 'Where's The One?' is the result of an exceptional collaboration between ten members of the legendary Congolese bands Konono N°1 and Kasai Allstars, and nine of the most creative musicians in the world of experimental rock—Deerhoof, Juana Molina, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, and Matthew Mehlan of Skeletons. Over ten years and across four continents, starting with a back-and-forth exchange of audio files between Kinshasa, Buenos Aires, New Mexico, New York, Stockholm, and Brooklyn, the participants created new musical languages by combining the electrified traditional music of the Congolese artists with the experimental avant-rock styles of their fans based in Europe and the Western Hemisphere. The album's 21 electrifying songs include live recordings, mixed by Deerhoof's Greg Saunier, and studio tracks produced before, during, and after the Congotronics vs. Rockers tour, which brought these groups together for the first time in 2011—a total of ten lead vocalists, five guitarists, three likembe players, five percussionists, two bassists, and three drummers—for a series of sixteen spectacular concerts in ten countries.
