Cantata memoria, for the children
Description
In the world of modern choral music, Karl Jenkins is a composer with a trademark: epic and moving sounds capable of creating connections with people of very diverse ages and backgrounds. The Cantata Memoria commemorates, with the help of contemporary music, the tragedy that took place in Aberfan, Wales, in 1966: 116 children and 28 adults tragically lost their lives during a landslide of a spoil tip. This large-scale choral work - in English, Welsh, and Latin - was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of this disaster. The first large-scale project for Karl Jenkins since the success of The Armed Man - A mass for Peace, this special and moving album also features the participation of the famous Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel, Welsh harpist Catrin Finch, as well as a host of children's and adult voices. This album does not just commemorate a deeply sad event; the emotions and themes it carries resonate far beyond: loss, the transition from darkness to light.Buy Cantata memoria, for the children at the best price
