Karate Boogaloo unveils their new album, Access All Areas, a record that focuses on the essentials: accessible, melodic, and immediately memorable compositions. Recorded using their famous "Lovely Recording Technique," the album invites every listener to feel like a VIP. Guided by the motto "simplicity," the band has deliberately simplified their approach. The most complex tracks have been set aside in favor of songs with stripped-down arrangements and universal melodies. While their previous album, Hold Your Horses (2024), was an ambitious and abundant work, Access All Areas aims to be more concise and direct, akin to a haiku. For this recording, the band enlisted sound engineer Alex Bennet, whose expertise brought a new dimension to their creative process while preserving the warm and authentic spirit of their productions. Nearly twenty years after their debut, inspired by major references in instrumental funk like The Meters, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and The J.B.'s, Karate Boogaloo now asserts a unique musical identity. Their sound pays tribute to the great traditions of funk and soul while reflecting their own artistic evolution. Entirely composed and produced collaboratively, Access All Areas highlights the complementarity of the four musicians. The mixing is done by Henry Jenkins, while the artistic direction is handled by Hudson Whitlock and Callum Riley. The album is released by the labels Colemine Records (United States) and College of Knowledge (Australia), confirming Karate Boogaloo's place among the most original formations in the contemporary funk scene.
