The twenty-fourth – and final – edition of FatCat’s long-treasured Split 12” series arrives hot on the heels of the Brighton-based label’s 25th anniversary. It features Canadian singer/composer Ian William Craig and the brilliant but little known Estonian Kago – two artists who each use their voice as a central component of their art, mediated by technology to evoke strikingly singular sonic worlds. Ian William Craig offers an immersive 19-minute tape piece whilst Kago delivers a warped, acid-tinged score of Eastern European freak-folk that sits perfectly within the Split series’ free-wheeling aesthetic.
