Four years after the indescribable Cerf Biche et Faon, Julien Gasc, the leader of AQUASERGE, returns with Kiss me you fool! This new album takes us far away, into clouds of sounds and quirky sentimental tales, on a quest for enlightenment that traverses the rich palette of human passions. The title is borrowed from graffiti discovered in the ladies' room of a London pub. It's through this peephole that we contemplate, as voyeurs, the paradoxical complexity of this album: at once spiritual, noble, and degenerate, Julien parades through it with the nonchalance of a nocturnal dandy. A modern-day troubadour, he sings of unresolved love, daily trivialities, the quest for the absolute, and self-deprecation. The result of an excellent artistic collaboration (Laëtitia Sadier of STEREOLAB, John Linger (Neils Children), Cathy Lucas (The Oscillation, Vanishing Twin), Joe Watson...), this contrasting, emotive, and heterogeneous album nonetheless forms a cohesive whole. Here, surrealist songs and decadent poems, effortlessly seductive, flow elegantly with mirror effects.
