Consouling Sounds once again welcomes Dutch experimental musician Jozef Van Wissem for the release of his nineteenth solo album, 'Ex Mortis'. The idea of 'Ex Mortis', or 'From Death', was key to this album. It is inscribed on the lute used to record this album and refers to the renaissance of lute music brought about by Van Wissem. The new compositions are inspired by the "Book of Gostlye Grace", written by nuns at the Helfta convent in the 1290s. It depicts an intense religious and even erotic longing to be closer to God. Playing around with the dichotomy between Eros and Thanatos, Van Wissem paints a vivid and captivating picture. He enlisted the help of Jarboe, Nikolaj Komiagin, and Thor to bring his vision for 'Ex Mortis' to fruition.
