A new arrival on the independent pop scene, Josie is a Copenhagen quartet formed in 2023 by four friends – Charlotte, Dawn, Martin and Anton – and already ready to win hearts with *A Life on Sweets Alone*, a debut album that is as raw as it is sweet. While the twee aesthetic is definitely present, Josie avoids any mawkishness thanks to sharp lyrics, twisted melodies, and a rhythm always in tension. "Cupid Strikes A Blow" and "My Boy And I" are instant hits with surprising structures; "These Days" and "Always" are barely unsheathed punk flashes; "If You" and "Falling Apart", finally, carve a more melancholic furrow, perfect for lonely late nights. After sharing the stage with Shonen Knife and Gorilla Angreb, Josie delivers a bold and endearing debut album that should quickly make them shine far beyond Denmark.
