Joseph Moog has forged a very nice reputation among young pianists today. His interpretative qualities and original choices of works have consistently convinced. The trust gained over the past few years allows him today to tackle certain mythical works of the repertoire, such as the Grieg concerto, recorded here under the direction of Nicholas Milton at the head of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken. The disc concludes with a very judicious coupling, the piano concerto by Moritz Moszkowski, a German contemporary of Grieg, whose luminous passages have not had the same fate as those of Grieg and certainly deserve to be played more.
